Perry Dental Solutions
HISTORY
Perry Dental Solutions was established in its present location on January 3, 2000 by Dr. John Filutze.
Dr. John Filutze was born and raised in Fairview, Pa., a suburb of Erie, Pennsylvania. Not only involved in academics, Dr. John participated in sports. He played soccer throughout high school and college and was an avid bicyclist, racing all over the United States. He was Pennsylvania State Champion several times during his cycling career enabling him to attend the Olympic Training Center for cycling.
Dr. John attended Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa. He graduated in 1991 earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Physio-psychology. His major concentrate involved the study of the physiological and psychological effects pharmaceuticals have on behavior especially the non-opioid pharmaceutical effects on pain and pain control modalities. He minored in Biology and Chemistry as well.
Dr. John continued his education at Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry. In 1995, he earned the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.). During his time at Case Western, Dr. John worked in the emergency and oral surgery departments whenever possible to gain firsthand knowledge and experience on the surgical aspects of dentistry, including implants, as well as how to properly handle all emergency situations. In addition, Dr. John was the Grand Master and House Manager of Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity from 1992 to 1995.
After graduating from Dental School, Dr. John worked in a dental practice in Lakewood, Ohio and Mentor, Ohio simultaneously from 1995 through 1999. He had the advantages of working side by side with many top Cleveland Area Dentists where he gained essential experience, knowledge and technical skills not taught at the Dental School level. Dr. John took all that knowledge and experience and started Perry Dental Solutions on January 3, 2000. He has been in this location since that first day!
Dr. John has continued his education in many areas of Dentistry. He attends on average 50 hours of educational programs per year. He has completed more than 450 hours of educational programs for Orthodontics. He is a member in good standing with the Mid-American Orthodontics Society and the International Association for Orthodontics. In addition, he has spent well over 200 hours learning Cosmetic Dentistry techniques with teachers such as Dr. Bill Dorfman of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover” and at places such as the Las Vegas Institute, LVI, which is the leading center of learning for Cosmetic Dentistry. Further, he has many hours of learning in Sleep Apnea and TMJ Dentistry, Endodontic (root canal) treatments and basic general dental treatments such as fillings, dentures and crowns and bridges.
